Why Choose Kindness?
Kindness is the foundation of everything we do. Kindness to each other and kindness to oneself.
Kindness is at the root of everything we do- Kindness to each other and Kindness to oneself. With this as a foundation, young minds can feel the courage, safety and self-belief they need to take on the challenges of learning with resilience and positivity!
Kindness
in the Classroom
We know that Learning in the early years can feel overwhelming and full of challenges. As young minds approach new environments, make new social connections, adjust to time away from home and explore the world around them it is normal and understandable that they sometimes feel big, hard feelings. With this in mind, we have placed Kindness at the core of everything we do. With this as a foundation we can transform these challenges into moments of triumph, encourage self-belief and grow feelings of courage. This kindness, to each other and to oneself acts not as an easy way out, or the avoidance of obstacles, but instead as a grounding confidence that creates a safe environment for a range of emotions, failure, and resilience. This in turn allows feelings of autonomy, individuality, and internal motivation to flourish, creating a cascading effect of positivity, creativity, and persistence in the face of the unknown! We know that young minds learn best when they feel safe and secure enough to explore and discover and at the Kindness Collective this environment is created through Kindness!
Kindness
as an approach to
Challenges
As your little ones take on the many adventures, and challenges of learning there are sure to be moments of conflict. Whether these moments come in the form of an internal conflict reflecting a faltering belief in ability, or come in the form of a challenging moment between peers or with a teacher, we believe they are best navigated with a huge dose of Kindness and Respect. When this approach is taken these moments become more approachable, feelings of failure are removed and in their place lessons about helpful communication, self-regulation and positivity can be taken away.
Kindness
in
Collaboration
We believe Learning is best done in a collaborative environment. Creating a safe, secure and respectful environment for your little ones is our top priority. Our favourite way to do this is through collaboration! We establish kindness and respect in how we communicate with your little ones and encourage them to communicate with each other, in how we manage our classroom routine, and by setting expectations that are age appropriate and specifically catered to each child’s abilities. This in turn gives each child the autonomy and individual voice to be able to be in collaboration with their teachers and each other! Asking for their input, opening lines of communication, validating their ideas, thoughts and emotions and programming in ways that reflects their interests allows for school to truly become a collaborative effort! We love creating an environment that honors their capacity for creative, unique, and individual thought! Extending this collaborative spirit to include parents, family, care-givers, and the community at large, builds on these principles to make school an integrated part of their lives.
